Day 3 Daintree Rainforest and Kuranda Rail

Day 3

Daintree Rainforest / Kuranda

We were very excited about this portion of our trip - If we go back, we will do it differently.  The Daintree Rainforest is amazing - we would actually seek to get a guide to spend more time in the rainforest to learn more about all the wonderful plants, animals, and people that live there.

We took a self-guided tour by tram - we did get to hear several guides tell us a brief history at 2 stops, but we truly would have like to have learned more.

The cacophony that rang from the treetops was glorious.
The medicinal uses of plants was astounding.

View from the tram up into the rainforest.

A little "friend" that we found along a hike.

From the Daintree Rainforest, we ended in the Village of Kuranda - from there we took 100+ year old train back down the mountain.  It was picturesque, but in all honesty, quite touristy, and I could have skipped the Village and the train ride and have not felt like we really missed anything.  The joint package tour that was setup for us failed to calculate that when we returned from the train ride that the main office would be closed and that that were no cabs readily available.  It is great that a tour bus took pity on our family of four and transported us back to our hotel in Palm Cove.
