Day 1 and 2 (Sunday / Monday)

Day 1 - Palm Cove, Australia

Warning sign on the beach outside our hotel  :)  - to think, I was worried about the sharks!
The water always had waves.

Entertainment - these kids practiced surfing daily in the early AM and in the afternoon hours.

Exhausted, exhausted, exhausted - but we pushed through on day 1.  We landed in Cairns (pronounce it "Cans" if you want to sound like you know what you are talking about), Australia on Sunday morning - we took about a 30 minute cab ride to our first destination - Palm Cove.

Even though our brains, bodies and psyche cried for rest, we muscled through.  We enjoyed a long beach walk, the pool, and a local restaurant before we crashed around 6:30 PM.  To fight jet lag - this was a great way to do it...we slept for over 12 hours and woke the next morning refreshed and relatively adjusted.

Day 2

The Great Barrier Reef

Agincourt Barrier Reef (The Drop-off)

First experience snorkeling :)
800 year old coral - we swam with a hired marine biologist for a 45-minute tour.

Our daughter got to hold a starfish fetched by the biologist.

These were the fish that greeted us as we launched from platform - had to swim about 50 yards to get over the reef.  The waves lapped over a our heads.  Glad that we are all solid strong swimmers.
